Matheran Monsoon Trip
Overview
This small and vehicle-free hill station of India can take you back to the 18th century. It is located 90 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Pune. One will have to walk around 15–20 minutes into dense wood and red muddy trail to reach any view point. Matheran has no motor vehicle transportation, one has to travel by walk only. Consider it a backpacking and trekking trip, though our stay and food facilities will not be less than leisure. Strictly avoid trolley bags.

The Itinerary

Day 0
Overnight journey from Ahmedabad. Pick up: Nehrunagar GSRTC bus stand, CTM Express Highway.

Day 1
Reach Karjat Phata ~09:00 am, breakfast on the way, reach Matheran by local taxi, reach resort, check in, freshen up, lunch, swimming pool, Matheran sightseeing circuit — Eco Point, Charlotte Lake, Edward Point, Cecil Point, waterfall (Revert Waterfall during rain), Matheran Market.

Day 2
Early breakfast, Garbett Plateau Trek / Peb Fort Trek (5–6 hours), late lunch at hotel, free time / rest / swimming pool / nearby view point, dinner, music, Garba, group activities, night walk / jungle hike to nearby view point.

Day 3
Morning breakfast and check out, heritage toy train (3 km ride) on self, reach Matheran parking, toy train trek to Ganesh statues of Matheran / Kadyavarch Ganpati (4 km easy walk), reach Neral by 3 pm, start return to Ahmedabad.

Day 4
Reach Ahmedabad by 6:00 am.
